State of Origin II - NSW Blues v Qld Maroons
Wednesday 13 June 2012
THE biggest State of Origin crowd since 1999 will pack ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night, when close to 84,000 fans turn out to watch the NSW VB Blues take on the mighty XXXX Queensland Maroons in Origin II.
Plans are in place to make Mal Meninga and his Queenslanders feel like they’ve entered a Blue fortress on Wednesday, with an incredible light show set to turn ANZ Stadium and the entire Sydney Olympic Park precinct blue for the night.
Laser projections will light up the Stadium while eight blue search lights will operate from outside the ground, and even the train station will turn blue for the night.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early and soak up the festival atmosphere with pre-game dinner and drinks along Dawn Fraser Avenue, where 15 restaurants and bars will be set up as part of the Eat Street promotion.
Die-hard NSW supporters can then line Olympic Boulevard to cheer on the Blues bus as it leaves the Pullman Hotel at 6pm to make its way into ANZ Stadium for the side's must-win battle against Queensland.
