‘Cheer, cheer the red and the white’ has become a rousing chorus at ANZ Stadium as the Sydney Swans continue to deliver blockbuster games at the world-class venue.
The Swans played their first game at ANZ Stadium in 2002 against arch rivals Essendon and it didn’t take fans long to embrace the new home ground.
In 2003, an AFL crowd record for a game outside Victoria was set when 72,393 fans turned out to see the Swans play Collingwood.
The Swans will play a minimum of three home games a year at ANZ Stadium, as well as home finals, until at least 2016 with the marquee contest against Collingwood one of the regular fixtures.
Having received fantastic local support last season, the Swans look forward to fans rallying behind them again in 2012.
Reigning Club Champion Kieren Jack said: “We have a very loyal fan base here in Sydney and right across Australia and we will need everyone on board.”
