A grand stage for Sydney’s major sports and entertainment events, ANZ Stadium (as it is known today) has welcomed more than 26 million fans since it was purpose-built for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Everyone remembers where they were when Cathy ran, when Aloisi scored, or when unforgettable NRL Grand Finals, State of Origin games, football blockbusters and Bledisloe Cup matches unfolded.
The NSW Government’s recent commitment to the redevelopment of ANZ Stadium will ensure this iconic venue continues to host many of the nation’s biggest events and most iconic sporting moments well into the future.
Many Australians, and especially Sydneysiders, were here when the Stadium opened its doors to the world and have followed the journey ever since.
The stories presented here are a window into the big events, the athletes and the entertainers, the people and the fans who have made the 20-year journey so special.
